Adaptive ambient BAckscatter Communications for Ultra-low power Systems (ABACUS)

Low power wireless communications have been identified as one of the key enabling technologies for the Internet of Things (IoT). The performance of the contemporary IoT connectivity solutions are mainly limited by congestion, interference, and limited operation time with battery. These limitations hamper the scaling of the IoT deployments. This project (ABACUS) aims to develop a revolutionary Adaptive Ambient Backscatter Communication A2BC paradigm that overcome these limitations by using smart and adaptable antennas, co-designed and optimized waveforms and receiver algorithms, efficient functional computation as well as novel sensing and data aggregation principles.
